2009 |
The ‘New Deal for Tenants’ report, recommending wider asset ownership amongst social housing tenants, was completed in December.
Final report of the Commission on Co-operative & Mutual Housing was launched at Parliament in November 2009. HCi’s ‘Exceeding Expectations’ report informed the overall Commission report, which was extensively promoted by HCi.
HCi’s Tri-annual report commemorating three successful years of work was launched on 19th November at Birmingham Council House.
The ‘Unequal Lives’ report about health inequalities in Birmingham’s Asian communities was launched following a hearing with housing, health and community representatives on 19th October.
The ‘Green Houses’ report about climate change, fuel poverty and housing policy was completed in September.
HCi launched a community consultancy called Enact with the Trident Group in the summer.
A report was presented to the Mental Health Partnership Board in May covering the accommodation needs of people with mental health problems in the Borough. |

A report exploring the needs of Birmingham’s Vietnamese community was completed in the autumn.
The Commission on Co-operative & Mutual Housing was launched in June at the Co-operatives UK Conference at Blackpool.
HCi’s ‘No Community Left Behind’ research theme was launched in April 2008 - research projects around the needs and aspirations of Somali, Chinese, Vietnamese, Bangladeshi and Seventh Day Adventist communities is now ongoing.
E-Bulletin & Human City Headlines launched in January and February respectively Human City Headlines are summaries of research reports and findings. |

The ‘Hills, Cave and After’ report exploring how social housing might be renewed was completed in September.
The ‘Unexpected Community’ report, which revealed the needs of Birmingham’s Somali community, was launched at an event in the summer.
‘Breaking the Mould of Regeneration’ - a report summarising HCi’s contribution to shaping the regeneration agenda - was launched to celebrate ten successful years. |
